About Me

IMDT red-stamp-logo on cream.png

I’m Sarah, a qualified dog trainer with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT) and the founder of Bude K9 Services. I set up the business in 2022, originally offering dog walking and pet sitting services while I studied canine behaviour and training. Those early years gave me invaluable, day‑to‑day experience with a wide variety of dogs—different breeds, ages, personalities, and needs—which now forms the foundation of my calm, practical approach to training.

I’m committed to evidence‑based, modern, ethical training methods, and I’ve invested heavily in my education. Alongside my IMDT training qualification, I hold an Ofqual‑regulated Level 3 in Canine Learning, Motivation and Reinforcement and a Level 4 in Consultations, Foundations and Functions of Behaviour (both also completed with the IMDT) and an Ofqual-regulated Level 3 in Canine Care, Welfare and Behaviour (completed with the Dog Business School). I continue to study and develop my skills through further courses and practical learning, with the long‑term goal of completing the Level 5 behaviour qualification.

My Training Style

Before working with dogs full‑time, I spent many years in customer relationship and project management within the IT industry. That background shaped the way I work today: organised, clear, supportive, and focused on helping people feel confident and informed. Training is as much about coaching humans as it is about teaching dogs, and I bring that same structured, people‑centred mindset into every session.

My training style is grounded in real life—helping dogs and their humans feel comfortable, connected, and capable in the environments they share every day. Whether that’s navigating busy streets, exploring coastal paths, or building confidence at home, I focus on creating positive experiences for both ends of the lead.

Above all, I believe training should feel kind, achievable, and enjoyable. My aim is to support you in understanding your dog more deeply, building skills step-by-step, and creating a partnership between you and your dog that feels relaxed, rewarding, and ready for everyday adventures.
